Pieces Of A Man

Ironic really, given today’s news. The title of my first post on WordPress last week was ‘I’m New Here’ – which i’d nicked from the title of Gil Scott-Heron’s latest and – as it turned out – last album. His best known tracks are probably The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (doomed to give Scott- Heron his uncomfortable moniker of ‘Godfather of Rap’) and The Bottle. And great though those songs are, for me they don’t really touch the painful majesty of this one, Home Is Where The Hatred Is – written and performed by a man who knew the subject matter only too well. RIP.
